My First Review - Pacific Vortex - Dirk Pitt Novel
Fri Aug 21, 2009, 6:56 PM
How can I sum up Dirk Pitt? He's dashing, brave, he's a man that has something for everyone. I read the first novel in Clive Cussler's bestselling adventure novel series and let me say that I am now a Pitt fan through and through.
Pacific Vortex is in terms of Dirk's life, the first adventure he is involved in. It starts with the mysterious disapperance of the newest US attack submarine and Dirk comes across the ship's last attempted communication. This puts him into an adventure that honestly doesn't let up. The interaction between the characters, and the love interest in this novel, are all created so that they are believable.
That's another good point here: Dirk Pitt is human. This shows. I'm reading the next book in his life story and let me say that when he gets hurt it shows. I am not going to give away any spoilers for anyone who hasn't read Pacific Vortex, but I will say that by the end of the novel, there will be some losses at the end of the fight. Compared to the other book I'm reading, 'Vortex' is shorter, perfect for a beach read but it will not leave anyone disappointed. If you love stories of adventure of any kind, then Clive and Dirk Pitt are a sure fire hit.
